As we build our annotated version of Song of Myself, we will engage in a number of different activities to aid our understanding of the poem, of poetry in general, of Walt Whitman, of events in the immediate period before the US Civil War, of life in America's cities, countryside, territories and towns for men & women of various races, creeds, classes and professions. What we're hoping to achieve is analogous to what Whitman is attempting in the poem itself.
